The cheesehead hat, and Mayor Dave's last name
Just a couple of quick follow ups to Wednesday’s presidential visit to Madison. First all, I had a chance to chat briefly with the guy in the cheesehead hat, since he was seated in the last row directly in front of the media enclosure. I even snapped a couple of camera phone pics, and learned that he’d been promised the hat would be signed by President Barack Obama. Oh, and he planned to sell it on
E-bay.
On my way out of Wright School, I saw him – sans his foam rubber headgear – and wished him luck with the hat. Well, according to this story, Mansfield Neblett did indeed get the president’s signature on his cheesehead hat, although I suspect any potential E-bay buyer is going to require a tad more documentation as to that signature’s authenticity. In other words, we need a picture of the president signing it.
Secondly, I (and about a dozen other Madison-based reporters) noted that President Obama got a little bit closer to successfully pronouncing Madison Mayor Dave Cieslewicz’ last name.
